Renovations to the Ungarie CWA Hall are nearing completion, with NSW Nationals Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke visiting to take a look at the progress.
A $20,000 grant was awarded for the work from the Community Building Partnership program earlier this year to undergo repairs and create more space for community activities.
Ms Cooke said the improvements were progressing nicely.
“I am so pleased I have been able to come out and see the work that is well and truly underway in Ungarie,” Ms Cooke said.
“The CWA is one of our most important community organisations and their hall is used by a local playgroup and for other gatherings, so they need a space that is functional and safe.
“I am so impressed with what has been achieved out of this grant and look forward to the finished upgrades being enjoyed by the whole community.”
Ungarie CWA Secretary Pam Brewer said the hall upgrades were a much-needed boost to the Ungarie community.
“With everyone down in the doldrums at the moment this will perk everyone up,” Ms Brewer said.
“So far we have re-cladded the rooms and put on a new front door, which is looking great. And we will be moving the fence to put in a garden shed.
“We are using the money wisely and can’t wait to see the work done.”
Now a decade old, the Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 13,800 community projects since it commenced in 2009.
