Elvis lovers can dust off their blue suede shoes for the first time since COVID, with tickets for the five day Parkes Elvis festival on sale.
Deputy Premier and Nationals Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole said the 2022 Parkes Elvis Festival would shake, rattle and roll its way through a bigger program of events inspired by the 1968 movie classic Speedway.
“The Parkes Elvis Festival is one of Australia’s most iconic events, each year bringing thousands of people from around Australia as well as internationally to the region, showcasing the best of what regional NSW has to offer,” Mr Toole said.
“Next year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever thanks to funding from the NSW Government’s Regional Events Acceleration Fund, with more than 200 events, including Elvis tribute performances, themed exhibitions and a vintage Speedway car show that will rev up the crowds like never before.
“Tickets are now on sale for the 2022 celebration running from April 20-24, which will honour all things Elvis, so don your blue suede shoes and make sure to secure your ticket before they sell out.”
Nationals Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier Sam Farraway said the NSW Government’s support of the Parkes Elvis Festival would help deliver a unique themed experience for locals, visitors and enthusiastic Elvis fans.
“It’s exciting to mark Elvis’ birthday with Speedway themed events and activities, and the opportunity to share this iconic festival experience with locals and visitors coming to Parkes and the region,” Mr Farraway said.
“Hosting major events like the iconic Parkes Elvis Festival will help drive regional NSW’s economic recovery from bushfire, floods, drought and COVID-19.”
Parkes Elvis Festival Director Cathy Treasure said support from the Regional Events Acceleration Fund will give Elvis fans a chance to celebrate the King’s incredible legacy and enjoy the extra Speedway themed events.
“The Festival will have non-stop entertainment for five days, with one of Australia’s top Elvis Tribute Artists starring in a Parkes Elvis Exclusive Speedway Special on the Wednesday night, as well as very special guests, including Elvis’ tour producer, Charles Stone,” Mrs Treasure said.
