NSW Nationals Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed the return of the Police Dog Unit in Tamworth.
“The community has fought hard to have this important addition to crime fighting return to the Oxley Local Area Command and it is pleasing to see the day has arrived,” Mr Anderson said.
“We also welcome the dog’s handler who has spent considerable time training with the dog so that when required, the two can work as a formidable team to combat criminal activity, including theft, break and enters and other crime.”
Mr Anderson said those who are considering committing an offence should think twice.
“While an officer’s actions may be predictable, a highly trained dog is far less so,” Mr Anderson said.
“Potential lawbreakers should reconsider any thought of criminal activity.
“The unit will not only benefit Tamworth but the whole of the Oxley Police District will be able to take advantage this new crime-fighting unit.
“Crime is crime no matter where it is committed and I am sure the new Police Dog Unit sends a clear message that if someone commits a crime they will be caught.”
