The NSW Nationals in Government are keeping an election promise to the people of Myall Lakes, with planning about to begin on the long-awaited Forster-Tuncurry Hospital.
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said the first critical stage in the development of a new hospital was clinical services planning, which was set to begin within weeks.
“During this stage Hunter New England Health will create a plan to meet the health needs for the future of the Lower Mid North Coast, this plan will inform the Master Building Planning for the Public Hospital in Forster-Tuncurry,” Mr Bromhead said. “This is not a one size fits all approach – every redevelopment and new hospital is tailored to a community’s unique requirements.”
Planning for the future
There will be a number of considerations for the Forster-Tuncurry Hospital, such as:
- How the services operate by themselves, alongside surrounding services and what are the functional and design requirements.
- Population shifts and changing age profile.
- What services need to be included and where e.g. electricity, water and telecommunications.
“I look forward to working with Hunter New England Health and Health Infrastructure on the project and will keep the community updated as we progress through the process,” Mr Bromhead said.
