Orange City Council is set to benefit from more than $262,000 in extra funding from the NSW Nationals in the state government for further Southern Feeder Road improvements supporting the rapid growth in the region, local jobs and local people.
NSW Nationals Upper House MP Sam Farraway said the NSW Nationals in the state government will provide more than $262,000 for infrastructure improvements from its Low-Cost Loans Initiative (LCLI), of which Orange City Council engaged in for upgrades to the Southern Feeder Road.
“Funding for the right infrastructure in the right place at the right time will ensure our growing region is able to provide a better quality of life for our current and future residents,” Mr Farraway said.
“The Southern Feeder Road upgrades are vital for the Orange community and with some stages already completed we are seeing the benefits, not only in road safety but in time efficiency and connectivity.”
Building safer, stronger regions
The funding for new and upgraded infrastructure is the result of upfront strategic planning and the investment of developer contributions. Good planning is upfront about what infrastructure is needed to support new development, so new communities get vital public assets like new roads and schools much faster.
The NSW Nationals in the state government are using the Special Infrastructure Contributions (SIC), Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) and Low-Cost Loans (LCL) programs to invest more than a quarter of a billion dollars into new roads, schools, public spaces and emergency and community facilities.
This infrastructure funds bonanza is in addition to the Government’s recent adoption of all 29 recommendations from the NSW Productivity Commission review into the developer contributions system which will further supercharge infrastructure delivery.
The third round of the Low-Cost Loans Initiative will see 13 councils reimbursed for half of their interest costs on loans, unlocking more than $300 million in infrastructure works to support new housing developments, including roads, sporting facilities and open space.
