Applications for the 2021 Regional Seniors Travel Card are now open, NSW Nationals Members for Clarence Chris Gulaptis has announced.
“The Regional Seniors Travel Card is a NSW Nationals in government initiative that provides eligible seniors living in regional areas like the Clarence and Richmond Valleys with a $250 prepaid card to help ease the cost of travel,” Mr Gulaptis said.
“You can use the card at certain retailers to pay for pre-booked NSW Trainlink Regional trains and coaches, fuel and taxis.”
To be eligible you must be a Commonwealth Seniors Health Cardholder and/or be receiving one of the following: Age Pension; Service Pension; Disability Pension under the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986; or War Widow(er) Pension.
Mr Gulaptis said that organisations in the Clarence and Richmond Valleys can also now apply for a share of the NSW Seniors Festival Grants Program to help older people get active and connected.
“We want to get local seniors dancing, learning, cooking or exercising so I encourage local groups to apply for a grant if they have creative ideas to help seniors get active and connected,” Mr Gulaptis said.
“These grants support seniors from all walks of life including initiatives that enhance technology skills so they can stay engaged with friends and family.”
The NSW Seniors Festival has been running for over 63 years and is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere.
Grant applications are now open until February 4. More information can be viewed at seniorsfestival.nsw.gov.au/events/nsw-seniors-festival-grants.
