NSW Nationals Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead has announced $684,307 funding for Ironwood Pty Ltd in Taree to assist with a $1.368 million project to increase the storage capacity of burnt timber.
The storage facility will include 30 log stacks and two new storage sheds for milled timber.
Benefits of the funding include:
- clearing bushfire impacted wood from public forests
- enhancing safety for hikers and mountain bikers
- reducing fire risks
In previous years Ironwood has undertaken research and development to produce Cross Laminated Timber, using reclaimed logs. They have identified the opportunity to upskill their staff and by doing so, continue the development of their state of the art ‘Cross Laminated Timber’ line.
The funding will help advance industry knowledge around using bushfire impacted wood, enable Ironwood to retain their staff and hire new contractors, enhance the safety of Australians and invest in resources to establish new cross laminated technology.
