Federal funding of $500,000 has been invested in upgrading nearly 600-metres of the gateway into Harrington with a new asphalt surface between Pacific Place and Jabiru Drive.
“MidCoast Council has utilised funding that has been provided through the Roads to Recovery program towards much-needed improvements to this important local road and I’m delighted to see the completion of these works,” Dr Gillespie said.
“Local motorists, cyclists and visitors will certainly welcome this upgrade and I look forward to further improvements to the local road network in the future.”
Mr Hoare welcomed the much-needed improvements.
“We’re over the moon, you know we’re a great place to shop, to visit, and the road works make it easier for everyone coming into town,” Mr Hoare said.
“Fixing this section of road will inject more money and jobs into the region’s economy, be more welcoming for tourists and improve road safety.”
