The NSW Nationals in the state government will provide $105,000 to build an on-course amenities block at Griffith Golf Club.
NSW Nationals Duty MLC for Murray Wes Fang said the funding was being provided through the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s Crown Land Manager Recovery Support Program.
“Griffith Golf Club is a fantastic not-for-profit recreational facility located on a Crown Reserve that supports the health and wellbeing of the local community as well as tourism to the region,” Mr Fang said.
“This $105,000 funding will enable the club to construct a multi-purpose amenities block with male and female toilets, a shower room, and a kitchen and lunchroom.
“Currently there are no on-course facilities, requiring players and grounds staff to walk a distance to access toilet amenities at either end of the course. This new infrastructure will benefit the local community and the many people who visit Griffith regularly to play golf for leisure and tournaments.”
Golf club president Robin Salvestro welcomed the announcement.
“The Griffith Golf Club is grateful for the support of the NSW Government in awarding the Crown Land Manager Recovery Support Program grant to the Club,” he said.
“The grant will fund the construction of an amenities facility on the course in a position that enables it to be used by both golfers, our grounds staff and our many volunteers. The overall amenity of the Golf Course Crown Reserve will be greatly improved as a result.”
