A Coffs Coast organisation working to improve youth engagement and participation has received a funding boost to help kickstart new initiatives.
Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said Boambee East Community Centre had secured a share in the latest round of the NSW Nationals in the state government’s $1.5 million Youth Opportunities program.
“Young people are the lifeblood of our towns and this program is about giving them more opportunities to be active and engaged members of the community,” Mr Singh said.
“The Youth Opportunities program keeps young people engaged with their community in a meaningful way and lets them drive projects they can be proud of.”
Boambee East Community Centre will receive almost $50,000 to deliver a series of pop-up art, cultural and music workshops across the Coffs Harbour local government area.
The workshops will culminate in a showcase event for young people.
Since the NSW Nationals in the state government established the Youth Opportunities program in 2012, almost $13.3 million has been invested in 282 projects.
