The NSW Nationals in the state and federal governments are offering grants of up to $50,000 to help small businesses recover from last month’s devastating floods.
Deputy Premier and NSW Nationals Leader John Barilaro said the grants will provide much-needed assistance for the ongoing clean-up and recovery.
“We are committed to building a safer and stronger regional NSW and that means helping flood-affected communities return to normal life as quickly as possible,” Mr Barilaro said.
“These grants will support small businesses to rebuild, replace lost stock and keep their doors open to local communities,” he said.
NSW Nationals Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead joined Mr Barilaro in meeting the owners of flood-affected businesses in Taree, including Tanya Brown – owner of the Bass n Blues Music Megastore.
Community members came together to help Ms Brown as floodwaters inundated her shop. She lost nearly half a million dollars’ worth of stock and says every cent in government assistance helps.
“It gets us back on our feet, keeps us going, keeps us positive, keeps us trading,” she said.
