NSW Nationals Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has announced the start of construction of the multi-million dollar TAFE NSW West Wyalong Connected Learning Centre (CLC), with the facility expected to be operational mid-next year.
Ms Cooke was onsite at TAFE NSW West Wyalong to turn the first sod on the new $6.6 million state-of-the-art facility, which will significantly enhance learning opportunities in West Wyalong and deliver practical training in a range of areas critical to the NSW and local economy.
“I’m excited to announce that work is underway for this new modern campus, which will revolutionise training in West Wyalong and provide students with access to teachers, support services and far wider range of courses,” Ms Cooke said.
“The new CLC is an incredible asset for our community – fitted out with enhanced digital technologies, the new facility will tap into TAFE NSW’s state-wide network of campuses to deliver more courses and provide world-class learning opportunities locally.
“Across the first suite of CLCs delivered, twice as many courses are now available to local students – and I look forward to seeing students take advantage of the new courses and facilities once the West Wyalong CLC opens next year.”
Supported by Mobile Training Units (MTUs), simulation and virtual reality experiences, the new CLC will deliver the high-quality practical training TAFE NSW is known for, consistent with industry standards.
Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee said the new CLC will equip students with the skills, knowledge and connections to employers that are needed to support the local economy.
“The NSW Government is committed to providing quality training for regional students and a future workforce for local employers – and the new CLC in West Wyalong will deliver the right skills to support jobs across regional NSW,” Mr Lee said.
CLCs are a key initiative of the NSW Government’s ONE TAFE NSW reforms, which will enable TAFE NSW to deliver modern, flexible and industry relevant training across regional NSW.
