A proposed high voltage transmission line that will run through prime agricultural land in the Dungowan, Woolomin, and Loomberah areas has outraged farming families.
EnergyCo has plans to build transmission towers on farming land with the lines sitting over the top of several private properties in the Tamworth Electorate.
Nationals Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said he has received many complaints from farming families in and around the Dungowan, Woolomin and Loomberah areas strongly objecting to the towers being built.
“These towers are enormous and can be up to 200 feet high with the current route placing them right in the middle of farming country and completely disrupting the agricultural business around it.
“This is unacceptable for many reasons, not only because it will significantly disrupt the operation of the farm, but these towers are an eyesore and will be right in the middle of the backyard of the these families who live on those properties, impacting on their lives.”
Mr Anderson said EnergyCo’s recent changes to transmission lines near Walcha proved that proposed infrastructure could be shifted with the stroke of a pen.
“I’m calling on the Minister and EnergyCo to move the infrastructure planned for the Tamworth Electorate onto public land including travelling stock routes, state forests, crown land, and road easements.
“The current proposed route is unacceptable, and the pain and angst caused by these proposed towers being built on private land in the Tamworth Electorate must stop.”
