Two new probationary constables have commenced duties in the Orana Mid-Western Police District after attesting at a formal ceremony at the Goulburn Police Academy last Friday.
Brett Field and Gordy Cowper are members of Class 363, which comprised 110 new probationary constables.
Nationals Leader and Member for Dubbo, Dugald Saunders, welcomed the new officers to the region.
“I’m thrilled the Orana Mid-Western District has received these new probationary constables at a time when a boost to police resources is needed,” Mr Saunders said.
“Their commitment to fostering a safe and thriving environment is invaluable, and we want each and every officer to know that their efforts are deeply appreciated.”
The new recruits are both from regional NSW, and Mr Saunders said they’re excited to be based at Dubbo.
“I met Gordy and Brett today, and both were really pleased to be starting their police careers here, where they know they’ll experience a wide range of situations,” he said.
“Policing is like no other profession; it is a selfless career where officers run towards danger to protect us and the wider community rather than the natural instinct to run in the opposite direction.
The recruits have completed eight months of foundational training, and after starting in Dubbo, will complete 12 months on-the-job training and study by distance education with Charles Sturt University.
