Work has commenced on the $3.7 million Bowraville Sports Hub.
Nationals Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey joined representatives from Nambucca Valley Connected Sharing Sport Throughout the Region to turn the first sod of dirt on the sports precinct clubhouse component of the project which was a $3 million promise at the 2019 election.
“Bowraville Sports Hub will be one of the leading community sport and recreation facilities on the North Coast,” Mrs Pavey said.
“The commencement of construction of the sports precinct club house is an exciting milestone in a project which will provide the region with a world-class sport and recreation facility.”
Reconfiguring of the adjoining golf course to enable construction of the Hub building has been completed with Lahey Constructions to undertake the construction of the club house and car park as well as an undercover bowling green.
Other aspects of the hub precinct to be completed separately include the recommissioning of the cross-country track, redesign of Hennessey/Tape Oval, recreational footpaths, playground, shelters and an RV area.
Nambucca Valley Connected’s Craig Doolan said the project had been many years in the making and it’s exciting to now be on the cusp of delivery.
“The project team have worked extremely hard to deliver the project and have found a vast amount of goodwill from the business and general community,” Mr Doolan said.
“We are excited that Bowraville will be home to a state-of-the-art inclusive multipurpose sporting and recreational facility within a precinct available to everyone in the Nambucca Valley.”
