Nationals Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, has launched her 2024 “Kick Start Scholarship.”
Now in its second year, the scholarship recognises not only academic or sporting excellence amongst high school students in the Myall Lakes electorate, but also a determination to excel beyond the confines of a classroom.
Mrs Thompson said the scholarship is a fantastic opportunity for her to support local students in their academic studies.
“I understand the financial strain that education pursuits can place upon families. This scholarship offers a kick start; an opportunity for a deserving student to start their educational journey with an advantage,” Mrs Thompson said.
The Kick Start Scholarship is open to students residing within the Myall Lakes electorate. Applicants must be enrolled in years 9, 10, or 11 for 2025.
The scholarship winner and runners-up will be chosen on the basis of their academic or sporting excellence, determination, application responses, and letters of recommendation.
Mrs Thompson said the calibre of applicants was exceptional last year, “I look forward to reading this year’s applications and I encourage all eligible students to apply.”
The scholarship winner will receive a comprehensive package worth $5000.
• $1500 Officeworks voucher
• An all-expenses-paid day trip to NSW Parliament House for an MP brunch, including travel costs for the recipient and one parent or guardian, valued at $1000
