A Riverina business that designs and builds innovative screening attachments for heavy industries is set for a major expansion, thanks to the NSW Nationals in the state government’s Regional Job Creation Fund.
Duty Nationals MLC for Wagga Wagga, Wes Fang, said a $6.64 million grant will enable FlipScreen Australia to build a large-scale manufacturing facility in Wagga Wagga that will create 332 sustainable jobs for the region.
Mr Fang said the funding will allow the company to kick-start the production of its 30 cubic metre FlipScreen mining attachment that can be used for bauxite, iron ore, coal and diamond mining in Australia, the USA and other international markets.
“This project will see the world’s most advanced manufacturing technologies being used right here in Wagga to make these massive machines that weigh 48 tonnes and are able to screen up to 3,000 tonnes of material per hour,” Mr Fang said.
“The new mining attachment is capable of scooping up to 50 tonnes of material and sorting it in less than a minute and is the type of Australian innovation that will revolutionise the mining industry and be in high demand around the globe.”
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole said the $130 million Regional Job Creation Fund aims to create 6,500 new direct jobs in regional NSW by providing incentives to expand and keep operations in regional areas.
“Regional NSW is the engine room of the state and helping companies like FlipScreen Australia expand its operations will stimulate regional economies, boost livelihoods and increase local employment opportunities,” Mr Toole said.
“Mining will continue to play a major role in the NSW economy for many years to come and to locally manufacture products that will save time and money for the industry removes the need to import products and keeps the money right here in NSW.
“Setting businesses up for success helps the local community grow and new jobs mean more people earning a wage and spending their pay packets in local stores, cafés, restaurants and on local goods and services.”
FlipScreen Australia CEO, Sam Turnbull, said “FlipScreen Australia is very fortunate that there is more demand for our innovations than we are capable of supplying. These new additional manufacturing facilities will not only enable the company to fill and expand current demand, but to create our new, revolutionary WL3000 mining Flip Screen.”
“This project represents a giant leap into transforming Wagga Wagga into the manufacturing centre it deserves to be,” Mr Turnbull said.
The Regional Job Creation Fund supports eligible businesses with grants to purchase new equipment, expand facilities, acquire technology, create new production lines or establish businesses in regional NSW.
