
Nichole Overall
Nichole was first elected to the NSW Parliament as the Member for Monaro in a by-election in February 2022. In doing so she became first female Member for Monaro in the seat’s 165 year history.
Nichole returned to the Parliament in February this year after being preselected to fill the casual vacancy caused by the resignation of Sam Farraway.
Nichole grew up in Griffith in the Riverina. She became the first member of her family to go to university when she moved to Queanbeyan to study Communications at the University of Canberra. Upon graduating she started work with the Tumut and Adelong Times before starting her own magazine “The Entertainer.”
Prior to entering politics Nichole had a long and successful career as a communications professional, small business owner, historian, author, and broadcaster.
She also had a long and proud record of serving her local community through groups like Meals on Wheels Queanbeyan, Headspace Queanbeyan, and as the Chair of St Edmund’s College Canberra, the only woman to serve in this capacity in the School’s 70 years of operation.
In 2020 she was named Monaro Woman of the Year.
Nichole is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters, Portfolio Committee No. 5 – Justice and Communities, Portfolio Committee No. 6 – Transport and the Arts, and is a substitute member for the Standing Committee on State Development.
