Meet Michelle Bailey, The Nationals’ candidate for Ballina

I was born and raised in the Ballina Shire. My family has a Northern Rivers history that stretches back generations. My husband Martin and I have raised our family here.

I’ve worked as a local business manager for more than 25 years, in areas including administration and event management.

I’ve had extensive involvement with local charities and sporting organisations, including serving as President of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Support Group for Ballina Shire. I’m proud to say the Support Group has helped raise close to $150,000 to help keep this vital service operating.

I am the President of Business Lennox and was elected to Ballina Council in 2024.

Ballina has a proud Nationals’ history, being held by the Hon. Don Page from 1988 to 2015.

But in the hands of the Greens and Labor, the people have been left behind.

The NSW Nationals have a strong record of delivering for the Ballina electorate and I want to build on that record.

With the sitting Member deciding not to contest the 2027 General Election, it is the perfect opportunity for The Nationals’ voice to be heard again, which is why I’ve chosen to contest the seat.

I am proud to stand for The Nationals because regional communities need a strong, practical voice in government.
