Meet Mareeta Grundy, The Nationals’ candidate for Monaro
The Monaro is in my blood. It’s been home to my family and I for more than 30 years.
In my career as a dietician, I’ve worked with the Australian Defence Force, the Canberra Raiders, and the Australian Institute of Sport, where I was awarded a Fellowship in sports nutrition to work with elite athletes preparing for the Olympics. I also worked with the National Heart Foundation and the St Kilda AFL Club.
In 2021 I was elected to Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council. I put up my hand because when the two councils merged, regional people were left behind. I fought against the council’s 64% rate rise. It wasn’t fair on local families then, and it isn’t now.
I also opposed a pay rise for councillors and the mayor. How can council ask for a 64% special rate rise because of they don’t have enough money, and then vote themselves more money?
Now, under the Minns Labor Government, our communities are still suffering.
I’m dedicated to fighting for you on critical issues like the cost of living, healthcare, and roads and transport. I’m backing our small businesses.
A Nationals Government will deliver a Regional Infrastructure Guarantee, committing at least 25 per cent of infrastructure funding to projects in regional communities, where 25% of the population live.
A Nationals Government will deliver the most competitive payroll tax regime in Australia, remove around 4,000 businesses from the payroll tax system altogether and ensure a further 25,000 businesses receive the lowest payroll tax rate of any Australian state.
The Nationals are the only party that truly represents the millions of people in regional NSW. I look forward to hearing from you. You can get in touch using the contact info below.
