Nationals candidate for Calare, Sam Farraway, is demanding Labor immediately abandon plans to strip Central West families of their rights to protect their land and livelihoods against the forced imposition of wind farms.
The NSW Labor Government is said to be considering new laws that would curtail the powers of landowners who want to fight to stop wind farm developments in their community and near farming land.
Mr Farraway slammed the proposal as an outrageous attack on the hardworking families who have cared for and worked their land for generations.
“This isn’t just about wind farms – this is about our local families, landowners and farmers losing their basic right to defend their land and their way of life,” Mr Farraway said.
“These are not faceless corporations or political players. These are mums and dads – people who’ve built their livelihoods here – and Labor wants to take away their voices and the land they worked hard for just to push through their own agenda.
“Labor’s move to trample over people’s rights for the sake of renewable energy windmills and solar panels is disgraceful.”
Mr Farraway said local communities deserve a say in what happens on their land.
“Families are raising real concerns about these developments – concerns that Labor in Sydney is flat-out ignoring.
“This proposal isn’t just reckless – it’s dangerous. Labor is threatening the very backbone of our rural communities. This is about protecting prime agricultural land, family homes, and the future of our region.
“If they can take away your right to protect your property for a wind farm, what other rights are they going to come for next? This government needs to listen to the people it’s hurting.
“I have launched a petition, available on my website, where Central West locals can send a strong message to the NSW Labor Government that we deserve to be heard.”
