Joint statement from Gurmesh Singh, Richie Williamson, and Michael Kemp
Yesterday we saw Bega Cheese Limited record a 4 per cent increase in revenue to over $3.5 billion, yet our local dairy farmers have had a major contract ripped away from them by the Minns Labor Government.
Norco was dumped from supplying health facilities on the North and Mid-North Coast, in favour of Dairy Farmers, which is owned by Bega Cheese Limited.
The Lismore-based Norco co-operative is 100% owned by farming families, and it’s disgraceful they are left behind while a major corporation gets to add to its bottom line.
This just reaffirms our calls that Health Minister Ryan Park needs to urgently intervene.
It’s clear city-based bureaucrats have made this decision, with no consideration of the impact it would have on regional workers in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, as well as the wider impact on the Lismore region which is still in the process of recovering from devastating floods.
The NSW Nationals will continue to fight for our communities and our farmers, and we encourage everyone to sign our petition to have this decision reversed.
