Lismore’s flood peaked at 14.4 metres. It’s the largest flood on record. The previous record was 12.17 metres. At 2:30am today the flood level was 13.3 metres. At this stage more than 1,300 people have registered for assistance
As of 5am today, the SES has received a total of 6,296 requests for assistance, while crews have performed 1,087 flood rescues. That’s an increase of 305 flood rescues since 3.30pm yesterday.
The Local Government Areas of Armidale Regional Council, Ballina Shire Council, Bellingen Shire Council, Byron Shire Council, Clarence Valley Council, Coffs Harbour City Council, Glen Innes Severn Council, Hornsby Shire Council, Kempsey Shire Council, Kyogle Council, Lismore City Council, Nambucca Valley Council, Port Macquarie Hastings Council, Richmond Valley Council Tenterfield, The Hills Shire Council and Tweed Shire Council have all been disaster declared.
The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) of $1,000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child is now available for people impacted by a flooding event. This is a one-off, non-means tested payment and is available to eligible people in those affected local government areas who have suffered a significant loss, including a severely damaged or destroyed home or serious injury.

A deepening low off the coast of northern NSW is expected to drift southward parallel to the coast on Tuesday and rapidly deepen in response to an amplifying upper trough and low. At this stage, the system is forecast to approach central and south-eastern districts on Tuesday night or during Wednesday, however, uncertainty exists on its exact timing and where the most significant impacts will occur.
Heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding is forecast to develop over parts of the Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast and parts of Central Tablelands and Southern Tablelands Forecast Districts on either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 80 and 120 mm are likely, most likely south of Gosford.
147 schools are known to be non-operational or offering minimal supervision.
Personnel and resources:
• SES: At least 550 members are on the ground.
• RFS: 5 x aircraft have also been dispatched to assist with reconnaissance and rescue operations where weather allows. There are 317 personnel and 58 appliances dispatched.
• FR: 3 in-water strike teams (9 people per team) in Casino, Grafton and Lismore.
• Police: 2 in-water teams in Lismore.
• Ambulance: 2 in-water teams in Lismore.
• The Australian Defence Force are deploying aviation assets, high clearance vehicles and 200 personnel to support NSW SES in the Northern Rivers.
o There are 6 ADF aviation assets, including 3 MRH90 helicopters and three additional aerial assets

• Never drive, ride or walk through floodwater.
• Stack possessions, records, stock or equipment on benches and tables, placing electrical items on top.
• Secure objects that are likely to float and cause damage.
• Relocate waste containers, chemicals and poisons well above floor level.
• Activate your Home or Business FloodSafe Plan.
• Keep listening to your local radio station for information, updates and advice.
• Keep in contact with your neighbours.
• Be prepared to evacuate if advised by emergency services.
• Act early as roads may become congested or closed
