NSW Nationals Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has announced thousands in funding for projects in Coolamon Shire under the Community Building Partnership Program.
Coolamon Shire Council has secured $4648 for an upgrade to the Marrar Memorial Hall supper room and $10,000 for upgrades to the Beckom Hall, including vinyl flooring.
Ms Cooke said the funding would assist these two local halls to continue to be an important meeting place for the community.
“I am so pleased these projects have secured funding from the Community Building Partnership program, which is all about developing places and spaces for the whole community,” Ms Cooke said.
“I know this funding will help the Beckom and Marrar communities enjoy their fantastic halls for years to come, and I can’t wait to see this work come to life.”
Joanne Langtry from the Advance Marrar Committee said the grant would be a boost for the community.
“The windows that are being replaced have been in there since the Hall was built in 1965,” Ms Langtry said.
“These upgrades will make the Hall more functional and also more hireable in the future.”
Kathy Maslin from the Beckom Hall Committee said the grant had been warmly welcomed by the community.
“This grant means that the Beckom Hall committee can complete stage two of their new kitchen,” Ms Maslin said.
“Stage two involves the installation of new kitchen cabinetry that will be dust and rodent proof, so we will no longer have to wash everything before we use it.”
The Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 13,800 community projects since it commenced.
