The Nationals in Government have committed $1 million over three years for Casino Beef Week as part of the Large Agricultural Events program.
Federal Nationals Member for Page Kevin Hogan said the funding would ensure the future of the festival for many years to come.
“We all know that Casino is the Beef Capital of Australia and this funding will mean Beef Week will continue in all its glory for many years to come and inject millions into our local economy,” Mr Hogan said.
“We rely on agriculture up here, particularly the beef industry, and Beef Week is a celebration of the industry.
“Beef Week is one of the longest ongoing volunteer-run events in Australia. It brings the community together.”
Nationals Minister for Agriculture and Northern Australia David Littleproud said Casino Beef Week brought agricultural and supply chain service industries together.
“Casino Beef Week shows the agricultural sector how valuable beef continues to be, despite the recent tough times,” Mr Littleproud said.
“Large agricultural events like Casino Beef Week brings the agricultural and supply chain service sectors together, creating partnerships, fostering innovations and showing off our world-class agricultural products.”
“Events like Casino Beef Week help support the agricultural industry to achieve its target of $100 billion in farm gate value by 2030.
“A strong festival reflects the strength of the beef industry. While the industry has had its ups and downs, including the recent drought and floods, it continues to grow and thrive.”
