The Tweed is set to become the envy of the region when it comes to health and education, with a stunning investment boost in the 2022-23 NSW Budget.
Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest said the budget is a massive win for the Tweed.
“Most of the north coast’s big ticket health and education spending is happening right here and it is going to transform the Tweed into the smart capital of the region,” Mr Provest said.
“The Budget fully funds the completion of the new Tweed Valley Hospital almost five years to the day after I convinced then Treasurer Dom Perrottet to commit to the state’s largest ever health spend outside Sydney.
“It has been delivered incredibly fast when you consider obstacles like COVID, the floods and cynical political opposition of some but not all in the Labor Party.”
Mr Provest said complementing the new hospital was Kingscliff TAFE’s biggest ever upgrade with more than $32 million in state-of-the-art infrastructure for local training in areas as varied as nursing, mental health, aviation, and electro-technology.
“The biggest public school upgrades are also overwhelmingly happening here in the Tweed,” Mr Provest said.
“The Liberal and Nationals Government will spend an astonishing ten million dollars every month in this coming financial year on upgrades to schools across the Tweed, particularly in Kingscliff and Tweed Heads as well as the revolutionary new $10 million VET Pilot Program at Tweed River High.”
Mr Provest said the government had clearly listened to the message he had taken to them from Tweed locals concerned about rising everyday costs.
“There are already many helpful vouchers, rebates and subsidies available to Tweed families and seniors through Service NSW, and it is only going to get better,” Mr Provest said.
