The NSW Nationals welcome Brendan Moylan as the Member for Northern Tablelands following Saturday’s historic by-election result.
While the counting of votes continues, it is apparent Brendan has been elected by a comfortable margin, similar to the result achieved by Adam Marshall 15 months ago.
Northern Tablelands should continue to be the safest seat in the State – a record for an incoming first term MP.
Mr Moylan said he was humbled by the result and by the level of community support across the electorate.
“I have spent the last seven weeks, since I was preselected on 4 May, travelling across Northern Tablelands meeting with locals in communities and towns and hearing what matters most to them,” Mr Moylan said.
“While each community has its own challenges, the key issues raised with me as I traversed the electorate were access to healthcare, the cost of living, and law and order.
“I thank the voters of Northern Tablelands for placing their trust in me. They can rest assured I will do all I can to continue Adam Marshall’s hard work in fighting for our communities right across the region.”
NSW Nationals Chairman Hon. Rick Colless said Mr Moylan will make an excellent local Member.
“Brendan’s commitment and hard work has been reflected in the outstanding results at the ballot box and has ensured a successful transition from one Nationals Member to another,” Mr Colless said.
“Brendan already has a track record of standing up for his community and I am confident he will continue to do that in Parliament as the Member for Northern Tablelands.”
It is worth noting that in the history of the seat, yesterday was the first time the Northern Tablelands had been successfully transitioned from one member of the same party to the next.
