About Alison
Hi, I’m Alison Penfold.
I grew up in Harrington and Hannam Vale, attending St Clare’s High School in Taree. My parents taught me the importance of contributing to our community through their work in retail and farming, values I carry with me today.
My career spans advising Government Ministers, working in small business, representing industry, and holding senior corporate roles. As CEO of the Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council, I learned the importance of standing up for our primary industries and way of life—qualities I will bring as your Local Member.
I will use my expertise in agriculture, water, health, transport, and trade policy to deliver outcomes that matter for our region. I know times are tough, and people are making choices they shouldn’t have to make. My plan is to fight for a government focused on the basics and getting our economy back on track.
I’m not here to play politics—I’m here to serve the people and communities I know best. With your support, I’ll work hard to listen, care, and deliver, building on the great work of Dr. David Gillespie.
My priorities for Lyne
As the Member for Lyne, Alison will be the electorate’s voice in Canberra and fight for our fair share.
COST OF LIVING
Local people and business are hurting. Pensioners and families are making tough choices every day. Labor’s spending spree is driving up inflation. I will argue to get back to budget basics, address the structural issues in our economy to reduce costs and the regulatory burden on small business.
AGED CARE, NDIS AND HEALTH
We must deal with the funding crunch that is hampering quality care to senior Australians whether at home or in residential aged care. We must ensure that the NDIS delivers on its original intent. There are not enough GPs in our area. I will continue David’s push for a Commonwealth-funded regional GP workforce.
MOBILE AND INTERNET SERVICES
We have huge gaps in our network and connectivity. Our coastal towns come to a digital standstill during peak holiday periods. I will keep Telcos accountable for providing the infrastructure our electorate needs.
COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE
Our roads and community infrastructure are not up to standard. I will work to restore Australian Government funding for local roads, local sporting and community infrastructure. I will continue David’s fight for the Pacific Highway upgrade to be completed with funding for the six highway overpasses between Medowie Road and Houston Mitchell Drive.
ENERGY AND HOUSING
Families and businesses need reliable and affordable power. We need a realistic energy policy to keep the lights on. I will work to ensure David’s legacy on nuclear is realised, starting firstly with the removal of the legislative ban.
