The New Newell

A trip on the Newell Highway between Parkes and Peak Hill is now going to be a faster, safer journey following a $36 million investment at Trewilga.

It’s arguably Australia’s most important freight route and we are already investing ongoing $500 million into the Newell Highway to improve safety and efficiency.

The project included widening and realigning six-and-a-half kilometers of the Highway.

We know the importance of investing in roads to help drive the number of crashes down, as well as improve our road network to attract more people to regional NSW.

And this project is another example of project delivery benefiting motorists and the community.

The Newell Highway extends from the Victorian border to the Queensland border and is an important link for freight movements which is why it is essential to do this work.

Since 2011 the Nationals and Liberals have tripled the roads budget in Central Western NSW.

In this region we have completed more than 80 road infrastructure projects in the past six years and invested over $380 million, resulting in thousands of local jobs.

Whether it’s primary producers getting their goods to market, school buses getting kids to school or people needing fast access to a regional hospital, country roads keep our communities connected.

This is an investment for the future to help our freight and tourism sectors, as well as small and large businesses.
