Hon Melinda Pavey MP

Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight

Member for Oxley

After more than a decade working for the people of regional NSW in the Legislative Council, and since 2015 in the Legislative Assembly as Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey has dedicated herself to improving the lives of regional and rural constituents.

Before entering parliament, Melinda owned and operated successful small businesses, worked as a reporter in radio and television and was an advisor to Deputy Premiers Wal Murray and Ian Armstrong when the Nationals were last in government.

As the mother of two children, Melinda is keenly focussed on the issues that matter to families across the state.

Melinda entered the Legislative Council in 2002 at the age of 33, shortly after the birth of her second child. In 2015 Melinda ran as for the seat of Oxley after the retirement of the former leader of the NSW Nationals. During this, Melinda served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Health from 2011 to 2015, and in 2017 accepted the responsibility of becoming Minister for Roads Maritime and Freight.

This is a role that will see Melinda travel across the state from Walgett to Wagga ensuring that those living in the city and country have safe roads to travel on. With major projects such as upgrades to the Pacific, Princes and Newell Highways, we have no doubt that Melinda is up to the task.
