John Barilaro

Leader of the NSW Nationals | Member for Monaro

Authorised by J Barilaro, Suite 2, Lawrence St, Queanbeyan

John Barilaro has held onto Monaro with a tight margin since being elected in 2011, but he has proven himself to be a local champion as well as an advocate for all rural and regional communities. Whilst nearby Canberra is never far from the minds of voters in Monaro, the electorate stretches from Queanbeyan to the snowfields and includes many rural communities.

Our Deputy Premier was born in Queanbeyan and raised in a strong family who instilled in him the values of hard work and community service. As Leader of the NSW Nationals and Member for Monaro, John is passionate about the future of regional communities and isn’t afraid to put up a fight on their behalf.

Having fought hard to secure billions of dollars of Government funding for regional NSW, John is making sure the government continues to invest in the infrastructure and healthcare services our regions deserve.

John still lives in Queanbeyan with his wife Deanna and their three daughters, and shares his time between the Monaro and regional NSW. As a parent he is naturally concerned about the future of the local community. In 2008, John stood for election to the Queanbeyan City Council because he believed ordinary mums and dads needed a greater say in the decisions that affected them and the local area. He has a great love of sport, co-founding the Monaro Panthers Football Club in 2000. He served as president of the club for eight years.
