Newly elected Member for Cowper, Pat Conaghan, has delivered on the Coalition’s promise of a new tidal pool for Port Macquarie.
On Thursday 6 June, Pat along with Nationals Leader and Acting Prime Minster Michael McCormack announced the new $4.47 million tidal pool for Port Macquarie. This was a pre-election commitment announced by Prime Minster Scott Morrison on his visit to Port Macquarie in early May.
“The fact is the money is there and we will be delivering this project,” said Mr McCormack. After three decades wait, the tidal pool will be a huge boost to the local community. It also comes as a huge win for the 18,000 people that signed a petition for this multimillion-dollar project.
“Everything will be done sympathetic to the environment, to the ecology, to the local area and it will be such a great thing for tourism, such a great thing for the people of Port Macquarie,” said Mr Conaghan.
“It will be such a game changer for local residents,” said Mr McCormack, “they will be able to come down here and swim confidently in this great little facility that will be state of the art.”
