Upper House MP Sam Farraway has announced local projects in Parkes and Trundle that were successful in the third round of the NSW Nationals in Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF).
Parkes Shire Council secured funding for upgrades to the Carrington Hotel, the installation of solar powered lighting at Memorial Hill, as well as funding for the new public amenities in Trundle.
These projects along with those aimed at youth, such as the Heads Up, Heads Together program and Trundle Skate Park will total $735,415 for the Parkes Shire Council region in round three of SCCF.
Mr Farraway said $100 million was being distributed across regional NSW, with regional communities set to benefit from more than 550 new projects.
“Across regional NSW communities like Parkes are seeing the benefits of rounds one and two of the Fund, with projects making a big difference to everyday life, from new playgrounds loved by kids to light towers illuminating sporting fields,” Mr Farraway said.
“We understand how important grassroots projects can be to a regional community. These projects will make a great difference to Parkes, Trundle and surrounds and I can’t wait to see them once they have been completed.”
To date, rounds one and two of the program have funded more than 1000 projects. The $400 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Nationals in Government’s $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local programs and infrastructure that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
