The NSW Nationals understand the importance of sustaining the world’s oldest living culture and acknowledge the right of Aboriginal Australians to practice their language, beliefs, and traditions.
The NSW Nationals believe in the right of Aboriginal Australians to self-determination.
The NSW Nationals believe that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
The NSW Nationals acknowledge the vital importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and governments working together to overcome the inequality experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and achieve life outcomes all Australians deserve.
The NSW Nationals believe in the power of community consultation and allowing local knowledge to guide communities to the creation of culturally appropriate resources that serve the needs of Aboriginal Australians.
The NSW Nationals encourage more policy, legislative, and regulatory initiatives that focus on:
- employment to assist in creating economic prosperity.
- housing and housing infrastructure to encourage a higher quality of living standards and personal home ownership.
- targets for health outcomes to increase general health standards and life expectancy.
- programs that keep law and order and programs that discourage anti-social behaviour.
- finding the best ways to get more First Nations children into school all the way to Year 12 and beyond.
