Another 12 ageing wooden bridges in Kyogle will be replaced under a $4 million package if the Coalition is re-elected, Federal Nationals Member for Page Kevin Hogan said.

“This is great news for the community,” Mr Hogan said. “Ten of the bridges currently have load limits and two are closed to all traffic. This package continues the work the Government has done in association with council over the last six years to replace Kyogle’s ageing bridges.”

“It will mean greater safety for school buses, locals and tourists. It will also greatly improve access to markets for our farmers and producers.”

“Kyogle and districts have one of the highest number of wooden bridges in the state and many are in disrepair and dangerous,” Mr Hogan said. “The Council does not have the resources to replace these ageing bridges on its own. That is why I am happy to make this commitment.”

The bridges that will be replaced under this package are:

• Old Lawrence No.1 Bridge, Old Lawrence Road

• Ryans Creek Road No.2 Bridge, Ryans Creek Road

• Haystack Creek Bridge, Yabbra Road

• Maslens No.2 Bridge, Tunglebung Creek Road

• Dunns Road No. 2, Dunns Road

• Leeses Bridge, Leeses Road

• Dyraaba Station No2, Dyraaba Road

• Lockharts Bridge, Dyraaba Road

• Lindsay Creek Road Bridge, Lindsay Creek Road

• Wyndham Road Bridge, Wyndham Road

• Sandy Creek Road Bridge, Sandy Creek Road

• Horseshoe Creek No1, Horseshoe Creek Road
