Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser is encouraging road users to attend two separate road safety workshops in Coffs Harbour next week.

The first workshop is to support parents and supervisors of learner drivers to be effective teachers, while, the second is aimed at helping older road users learn about changes to licensing rules.

“The Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers workshop includes information about licence conditions for learner and P-plate drivers, tips for using the learner driver log book and the importance of providing constructive feedback,” Mr Fraser said. “Parents and supervisors play a vital role in helping young drivers gain the experience they need to be safe on the roads. It emphasises a driver licence is a privilege, not a right. This program should be part of the NSW school curriculum and introduced into high schools, starting in Year 7.”
