The NSW Nationals in Government are waiving fees to support bushfire-affected commercial fishing businesses and charter boat operators on the Coffs Coast.

Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said the local fishing industry had been doing it tough dealing with the impacts of bushfires, drought and floods, and that waiving fees will help reduce the burden for commercial fishers.

“Our fisheries play a key role in our local economy, and waiving these fees is just one thing the NSW Nationals in Government can do to help our commercial fishers during these testing times,” Mr Singh said.

Under this waiver, fishing business owners will not have to pay the second instalment of management charges that would have otherwise been due on February 28, 2020.

Fishers who have already paid the management charges due for that instalment date will receive a credit on their account with the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI).

Commercial fishing business owners or charter boat owners with questions regarding fee relief are encouraged to contact the NSW Department of Primary Industries on 1300 720 662.
