In Andrew Gee, the father of a young family and a former barrister, the electorate of Calare has a local MP who understands their concerns and the best way to act on them.
Andrew grew up in Maitland, where his father was a local mayor. After studying Economics and Law at Sydney University, Andrew set up a business in Hong Kong with his brothers. He returned to Australia in 1999, and moved to Orange in 2005 with his wife Christina and their four children.
In 2011 Andrew was elected as the Member for Orange, replacing retiring Nationals member Russell Turner.
Andrew’s influence has been particularly noticeable in the area of health, with the installation of a second linear accelerator to treat local cancer patients and the reintroduction of a 24-hour helicopter rescue service under his tenure.
An active member of the Lions Club of Orange, Andrew recently served as the club’s First Vice-President and is currently the club’s Publicity Officer.
In April 2016, Andrew was nominated and won pre-selection as The Nationals Federal candidate for the seat of Calare after John Cobb announced his retirement. Andrew went on to win the seat of Calare in the 2016 election and continues to be a strong voice in Parliament representing the people of his electorate.
