Dugald Saunders was chosen as the NSW Nationals Candidate for Dubbo at a
preselection meeting on Saturday. A proud son of the area, Dugald said he looked
forward to delivering great things for the community.

“We’ve had eight fantastic years with Troy Grant and there’s an opportunity for this area
to be one of the powerhouses of regional NSW,” Mr Saunders said. “I’m happy to be
part of that great team of Nationals driving toward the future, with the support of my
Party, to make sure this region gets its fair share.”

Dugald has worked in the media for 27 years, 12 of those in Dubbo as the mornings and breakfast presenter for ABC Western Plains.

NSW Nationals Chairman Bede Burke said it was important that the people of regional
NSW had a voice in Government and he believed Mr Saunders was the right person to
give that voice to the Dubbo electorate.

“Dugald has already demonstrated a commitment to the community and has a desire to
work hard for the people of the Dubbo electorate,” Mr Burke said. “It’s important we
continue to have a strong voice in Parliament and I’m confident Dugald Saunders will be
another strong Nationals MP that will work hard for his people.”

Deputy Premier and Leader of the NSW Nationals John Barilaro welcomed the Party’s
endorsement of Dugald Saunders, saying he looked forward to working alongside him in
the lead up to the next election and beyond.

“The Nationals is a team of fighters that put people first, and Dugald has proved today
that he is the right person, with the right qualities and values, to ensure the people of
the Dubbo electorate are heard and respected,” Mr Barilaro said. “What people
ultimately want and deserve in a local representative is someone who’s their local
champion, and that’s exactly what they’ll get in Dugald Saunders.”

Member for Dubbo Troy Grant congratulated Mr Saunders on his endorsement.

“I’ve been honoured to serve the people of the Dubbo electorate for the past eight years
and I’m pleased to pass the torch to Dugald Saunders,” Mr Grant said. “I’ve put in a lot
of work into rebuilding the regions along with the rest of The Nationals team and I’m
sure Dugald will be a great local member for our community.”
