$400 million investment into new mobile towers, data centres and fibre.
Poor mobile coverage remains one of the biggest issues faced on a daily basis for people living in regional NSW.
There is nothing more frustrating than the inability to send or receive a call or email when you need to. For a business, unreliable internet or phone coverage can mean lost opportunity or lost income. More importantly, in times of emergency and need, it can be life or death. This is simply not acceptable.
That is why the Nationals in Government will invest $400 million to supercharge internet reliability and speed and significantly reduce mobile black spots in regional NSW. Our goal is to make NSW black spot free.
This investment in key digital infrastructure will improve the speed, reliability and cost of internet in the bush, and encourage competition in the market.
Although a Federal responsibility, the urgent need for internet and mobile connectivity in Regional NSW has meant that the Nationals in Government have stepped up.
The Nationals in Government have already invested $37 million building over 120 mobile black spot towers in regional NSW and we are on our way to deliver three brand new Doppler Radars to improve weather forecasting.
Faster, cheaper and more reliable internet and mobile services will bring regional NSW into the ICT fast lane.
Connectivity is at the heart of everything we do – from running a business, getting produce from paddock to port, staying in touch with family or having a lifeline to emergency services.
This $400 million investment will unlock new opportunities for regional communities ensuring your home, farm or business is better connected with the rest of the world.
This is the single biggest regional investment in digital connectivity by any State Government in Australia to date.
And it will be delivered by the NSW Nationals.
The funding is part of the Nationals in Government’s $4.2 billion Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund, with every cent guaranteed for regional NSW.
The Nationals in Government will:
•Invest over $300 million in building mobile black spot towers to improve voice and text services across regional NSW.
•Invest $100 million in regional data centres to improve the speed and reliability of regional internet.
•Improve connectivity for regional homes, farms and businesses.
