Construction will soon begin on a new primary school in Wagga Wagga with Hansen Yuncken Pty Ltd awarded the main works construction tender.
The contract award this week coincides with the release of new artist impressions of the school as part of the lodgement of the State Significant Development Application (SSDA).
Local NSW Nationals MLC Wes Fang said he was happy progress for the primary school was being made.
“I am delighted that plans for this new school are progressing so well. The lodgement of the SSDA is a key milestone – it means we can look forward to construction work on the new primary school in Wagga Wagga getting started soon,” Mr Fang said.
“The project really starts to take shape when we see major milestones like this achieved and I’m excited to hear feedback from the public about the SSDA submission and the artist impressions.”
The new school, which is due to be completed by early 2021, will be integrated with the Charles Sturt University Campus in Estella and will have 16 innovative classrooms and integrated facilities with open space.
The SSDA will be on public exhibition from 14 November, 2019 to 11 December, 2019. Submissions can be made via the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment website.
The NSW Nationals in Government are investing $6.7 billion over the next four years to deliver more than 190 new and upgraded schools to support communities across the State. In addition, a record $1.3 billion is being spent on school maintenance over five years, along with a record $500 million for the sustainable Cooler Classrooms program to provide air conditioning to schools. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
