The NSW Nationals in Government have outlined how the massive $4.2 billion Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund will be spent in rural and regional areas.
Large-scale, productive projects that boost regional communities will get critical cash injections thanks to the advocacy of The Nationals, who argued strongly for the entire proceeds of the Snowy Hydro sale to be spent outside the big cities.
There are five key pillars to creating a lasting legacy for rural and regional NSW:
- Water security projects;
- Improved road and rail connections;
- Better freight links, particularly for export;
- Vastly improved phone and data connectivity; and
- Activating regional business opportunities.
Deputy Premier and NSW Nationals Leader John Barilaro told the media, “The Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund is an investment in our young people in the regions, building the business foundations that will provide a secure future for those who live and work in our regional towns for generations to come.”
The NSW Nationals are committed to working for rural and regional people, and securing this massive investment solely for the regions is a clear sign we’re delivering on that commitment.
