A request to NSW Nationals Bathurst MP Paul Toole for financial assistance to buy new equipment for the local Men’s Shed has yielded an unexpected anniversary present.
Mr Toole officially opened the Men’s Shed in Havannah Street 10 years ago and recently unveiled a plaque to mark a decade since it started operating.
Members said they would love to be able to purchase a few extra items to help them with their handywork.
“I took the request back to Parliament in Sydney and asked the Premier if there was anything we could do to help,” Mr Toole said.
“The good news was that I was able to get discretionary funding of $3000 and only last week called in to see the members and inform them of the good news. Needless to say they were elated.”
Members of the Bathurst Men’s Shed gather each Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 8.30am until 12.30pm.
