Barilaro backed for third term

Apr 11, 2018

Over the weekend, our Leader John Barilaro was backed for a third time to be the Nationals candidate for Monaro after a preselection meeting in his home town of Queanbeyan.

They say three times a charm. But with two successful elections behind him, we have no doubt John’s third tilt at the seat will be a victorious one.

At the preselection meeting, John noted Labor’s poor record of delivery when in Government and with our state’s economy in tip-top shape and billions invested into regional infrastructure – country and coastal communities are at risk of losing it all if we do not return to Government.

“In my seven years as your local member, plenty has happened and been delivered but right now, there’s still way too much at stake to walk away,” John said.

“In short, there’s still plenty to do and an overwhelming sense of responsibility to see it all through.”

John thanked the people of the Monaro for putting their faith in him and ensured them that despite his ever-increasing workload, his constituents will always come first.

“I’d like to think me and the Monaro have a way to go yet. I promise I won’t let you down.”

The remaining preselections for the 2019 State election will be held between July and September of this year.
