Your Nationals candidate for Murray

About Austin

Since taking over the reins as the Member for Murray, Austin has travelled the length and breadth of this vast electorate. He’s met with a broad section of the community, listening to their views, expectations, visions and initiatives.

Austin has a proven track record of serving local government and solving local issues. His background of service to the community includes his role as Councillor with the former Murrumbidgee Shire Council from 2012-2016, with two years as Mayor.

Thirteen years with Coleambally Irrigation also provided Austin with an excellent understanding of irrigation and water management issues.

Born in the region and raised on a dry area sheep and wheat farm he attended primary school in Matong and high school in Narrandera.

Austin is married to Demelza, who grew up on a dairy farm at Finley and studied nursing at CSU in Wagga. Together they have four boys, aged from 8 to 18 – all attending Coleambally Central School.
