Remember that $500 million committed as part of the Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper to develop water infrastructure? Well, the first chunk of that money is now up for grabs. States can now apply for funding to undertake feasibility studies, supporting water infrastructure projects for ongoing water security.
To secure water supply, the National Water Infrastructure Fund will first drive a $25 million feasibility component to get projects like dams, pipelines or managed aquifers investment-ready. Organisations are encouraged to partner with the NSW Government to submit Expressions of Interest by 21 January next year.
The feasibility period for these water infrastructure projects is expected to run for up to four years before options for the capital component kick in from 2017-2018. The National Water Infrastructure Fund is but one of a number of Government initiatives designed to enjoy water security for generations to come.
