Wanaaring Public School Preschool Program

Minister for Early Childhood Education Leslie Williams and Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries have announced that Wanaaring Public School will receive funding to offer a preschool program by distance education.

Mrs Williams said the NSW Government will provide $8,800 for Wanaaring Public School to hire a School Learning Support Officer who will act as a playgroup leader.

“The benefits of receiving an early childhood education are well known, and those children who have received this education have a strong start for their school years,” Mrs Williams said.

“I know the community has wanted a preschool program for some time, but have been unable to because the funding has not been available.

“I am pleased the NSW Government has been able to find this funding because I know how much the extra support means to the community.”

Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries said the extra support Wanaaring Public School will receive for the distance education preschool program is in addition to the support the NSW Government is providing to schools in rural and remote areas.

“The distance preschool program at Wanaaring Public School provides an invaluable service to children and their parents in some of the most remote parts of NSW,” Mr Humphries said.

“I am proud to be part of a Government that supports students in the bush.”
