Thanks for the feedback on new Native Veg Laws
When the NSW Government asked farmers what they thought of the proposed Native Veg Laws, they were none too shy about having their say with approximately 7,000 submissions made in the eight weeks since the consultation package was released.
All the submissions will be reviewed and the feedback will help form the basis for the development of a revised package, to ensure the reforms are practical and relevant to today’s modern land use.
The current laws, that were brought in under State Labor, have frustrated farmers for over a decade as the ineffective and overly complicated legislation prevents landholders from using their knowledge and experience to best manage their land.
The NSW Government reforms are aimed at balancing the need for land management and conservation that will benefit farmers as well as the environment.
The proposed Native Veg Laws will enable our farmers to plan for the future and take steps to improve their land's productivity. Landholder's will be able to manage native vegetation on their land through a range of low-risk land management activities which will not require a formal approval or any notifications.
