Supporting sustainable energy
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams is encouraging local residents to get behind a ground-breaking community-owned renewable energy project, Energy Forever.
“Energy Forever is seeking sponsors within our community who care about sustainability and clean energy to consider sponsoring a solar panel for the first host site at St Agnes Early Childhood Education Centre,” Mrs Williams said.
“The project was established with a grant from the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage’s Growing Community Energy Program.
“Anyone can sponsor a whole panel for just $333 or donate a smaller amount and co-sponsor a panel with others.
"Host sites pay Energy Forever for the electricity they consume, and proceeds are returned to the community in the form of an on-going fund for a sustainability grants program.
“Of the 80 solar panels needed to power the first host site, 50 have already been sponsored.
“As someone with a keen interest in sustainable energy, I am supporting this project and have sponsored a panel myself.
“I encourage people to consider being part of this exciting new project and sponsor a panel in Energy Forever’s first installation.
