Rewarding our vibrant Arts Community
A not-for-profit art association that holds over eight vibrant workshops each year has been rewarded with $40, 000 to extend their current premises that will include a new workshop display area.
Mr Barilaro said the Queanbeyan Arts Society is comprised of an active 300 members who present a fantastic new art exhibition each month with over 100 works of art.
“Only a Liberal & Nationals Government will deliver this much needed funding for this exciting project.
“This arts centre will provide new opportunities for our local community to develop their musical talents and stimulate cultural tourism.
“The Society is a non-profit organisation that holds art exhibitions, competitions and classes for our local community who want to get involved and support each other.
“The Queanbeyan Art Society has been extremely active in seeking a grant, with the hope of extending the present Gallery space in Queanbeyan and I am delighted we are able to invest in their passion.
“Eight workshops are held each year, which take up the main gallery. The busy workshops fill the gallery and mean that the Society is unable to display artwork for the duration of the workshop.
“The estimated maintenance costs to carry out the new workshop display was $40, 000, which is a huge burden for any community organisation.
“We look forward to working with the community to deliver its vision for this important cultural facility,” Mr Barilaro said.
